Speaking examiner breakdown

A crowded shopping place I remember visiting was a large city-centre department store during the weekend before Christmas. I went because I still needed to buy two presents and I thought I could save time by finding everything in one place. That plan looked sensible on paper, but the moment I entered I realised almost everyone else had had the same idea.
The main floor was packed, the escalators had queues and people were constantly stopping in narrow areas to look at displays. I spent more time waiting to move between departments than actually choosing things, which made the whole trip feel inefficient. The noise was also tiring because music, announcements and hundreds of conversations all seemed to blend together.
At first I tried to be patient, but after about an hour I felt tense and just wanted to finish as quickly as possible. I eventually bought what I needed, although the experience convinced me that I would rather shop earlier or order online than repeat that kind of last-minute visit.
Examiner summary
The response describes a very crowded shopping visit, explains the reason for going, conveys the atmosphere, and reflects on the speaker’s discomfort.
Pronunciation coaching
- Describe the crowd through movement, noise and queues, then explain your reaction.
- Use natural chunking, stress and pausing to keep the long turn easy to follow; this is delivery coaching only, not evidence of an attained pronunciation score.
