Prompt
What subject did you enjoy most at school?
Band 9 sample transcript
Band 9 sample transcript
The subject I enjoyed most at school was geography. I liked it because it connected things I could see in everyday life, like weather, cities and landscapes, with bigger questions about how people and places influence each other. It never felt like I was just memorising facts for an exam.
I especially enjoyed lessons where we worked with maps or looked at case studies of real cities, because there was usually something to discuss rather than one fixed answer. One teacher also encouraged us to explain why we thought something was happening, not just describe it, and that made the subject much more interesting. I still notice that influence now, because I’m naturally curious about why different places develop in such different ways.
