Prompt
What do you like about your hometown?
Band 9 sample transcript
Band 9 sample transcript
What I like most about my hometown is how convenient and liveable it is. It’s not a huge city, so you don’t waste half your day stuck in traffic, but it still has everything you need—reliable public transport, plenty of cafés, and a couple of genuinely green parks.
I also really value the sense of community. People tend to recognise each other, especially in the older neighbourhoods, and it’s normal to stop for a quick chat at the bakery or the bus stop. For instance, when there’s a local festival or a charity run, it feels like the whole town turns up, which creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
And finally, it’s an easy place to unwind. The pace of life is fairly relaxed, and within ten minutes you can be on a riverside path or out near some low hills. So if I’ve had a stressful week, I can go for a walk, clear my head, and still be back home in time for dinner.
